Waverley Paddle Steamer Visits Clevedon Pier (By Freddie, Year 7)

By Freddie S, Year 7, Jill Dando News Correspondent at Clevedon School
Clevedon Pier recently had the honour of hosting the famous paddle steamer, the Waverley.
The Waverley travelled around the islands Steep Holm and Flat Holm.
You can see the Waverley around Britain, and it even travels along the River Thames. It took the Waverley two whole hours to complete the trip.
Flat Holm has army barracks dotted around the island. It also has a solar-panelled lighthouse and houses spread across the area.
Steep Holm also has army barracks dotted around the island, and even had a pub, which was bombed during the Second World War.
A quote from a passenger was that it "was like going back in time."
