A West Yorkshire woman has donated more than 100 handmade baby blankets to Bradford Royal Infirmary as a way of thanking staff who helped save her sight.

Eliz Sandalls began crocheting blankets for newborn babies after undergoing successful eye surgery at the hospital.

Speaking to BBC, she said she wanted to find a meaningful way to show her appreciation to the maternity unit and staff.

Since starting the project in 2025, she has created and donated more than 100 blankets for families with newborn babies.

Sandalls told the BBC:

“I get so much satisfaction knowing the blankets are going to good homes.”

She said crocheting the blankets had become both a hobby and a way to give something back following her treatment.
