Three Somerset students help lead UK team to silver at international dance championship in Orlando

A talented Year 7 student and three talented Year 8 students from Worle School in Somerset have returned from the 2025 Allstar World Championship in Florida with an incredible achievement—they and their team placed second in the world in the hip-hop dance category.

Felicity in Year 7 and Mika, Daisy, and Ava were part of an 11-strong dance squad representing the UK at one of the most prestigious cheer and dance events in the world. Competing against elite teams from across the globe, their performance wowed judges and audiences alike.

The girls trained tirelessly, dedicating 12 hours each month to mastering their routine in the run-up to the championship.

“When we placed second, we didn’t know what to do,” said the trio. “So we guessed we have to hug!”
“We’re speechless, shocked, and lost for words.”

Held in Orlando, the Allstar World Championship draws top dancers from around the world.

This year’s competition showcased outstanding talent, but it was the passion, energy, and precision of the UK team—including the Worle trio—that left a lasting impression.

Their routine was themed around hip-hop, a genre born in 1970s America that has since grown into a global cultural movement.

Their advice to other aspiring dancers?

“Try your best and give it your best shot.”

Headteacher Mark Tidman praised their success, saying:

“Congratulations to Felicity, Mika, Daisy, and Ava on their remarkable achievement. They’ve not only represented Worle School with pride but also inspired everyone here with what’s possible through hard work and belief. We are all incredibly proud.”

The school community is now celebrating the trio—and the wider team’s—achievement with pride.
