The Mayor and Mayoress of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset officially switched on the first-ever Christmas lights extravaganza at Il Michelangelo on the seafront.
Weston-super-Mare Mayor Cllr Williams and Mayoress Brenda Charles marked the start of the festive season by illuminating the venue’s Christmas outside display.
Children, families, visitors and guests enjoyed festive hats, mince pies, mulled wine and traditional carols before the official switch-on of the 25-foot Christmas tree.
The ceremony signals the beginning of a month of festive dining and celebrations at Il Michelangelo, with the restaurant’s Christmas Fayre Menu launching and further Christmas carols on Tuesday, 9 December.
Mayor Cllr Williams said:
“This was a tremendous evening. It was an honour to be able to do the first-ever Christmas lights switch-on. Il Michelangelo is a wonderful restaurant in the town and a strong part of our community for many years.”
A spokesperson for Il Michelangelo added:
“Our entire Michelangelo team were delighted to welcome the Mayor, Mayoress and the community from Weston-super-Mare to our exciting annual Christmas event.
“We want this to become an annual celebration for the whole town.”
Located on Knightstone Road with panoramic sea views, Il Michelangelo is a highly rated restaurant on both Google and TripAdvisor.
