Kat Lyons and the Curzon
Working with Kat Lyons at the Curzon was so good. We left Clevedon School to spend the day learning how to express ourselves through poetry.
Kat is a local poet and was also the former Poet Laureate of Bristol, making her the city's official poet.
We learnt that poems are such a good way to express ourselves. Since the event, we have all been inspired to write more poetry.

We all sat in the Oak Room at the Curzon, where Kat made us feel really comfortable.
She introduced us to the kenning, which is a mini metaphor. In other words, you have to use your imagination.
We chose to write about a seagull, which we called the "bandit of the sky".
Afterwards, we all practised on stage, reading our poems into the microphone. Everyone was very supportive, which made speaking out much easier. We learnt a lot about poetry and about making connections that day.
