A dog was rescued after falling more than 20ft underground in the North York Moors during a six-hour operation involving mountain rescue teams and emergency services.
Twelve-year-old Maisy became trapped in a narrow underground hole, prompting a large-scale rescue effort in difficult and muddy conditions.
Teams from Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team and Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association worked alongside emergency services to bring the dog safely back to the surface.
Maisy was reunited with her owner after the lengthy rescue and was later checked by vets, who confirmed she had not suffered any serious injuries.

Tony Heap, lead incident controller at Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team, told the BBC there was “something very heartwarming” about the operation.
“You could see the tears in the eyes of everybody as that dog came out of the ground,” he told the BBC.
