Talent in ballet is unlike any other dance style.

Thousands of young girls and boys compete each year for places on vocational schools’ associate programmes, full-time training courses, and holiday intensives.

I am an aspiring young ballet dancer who has experienced the competitiveness and the long days; however, it is most certainly worth it.

Last month, I was delighted to dance the roles of work hours and a Czardas girl in English National Youth Ballet’s Coppélia.

The experience was truly amazing. It was a three-week course in total, training for six hours a day with professional ballet dancers.

The company not only helped me to improve my technique and classical ballet knowledge, but it also allowed me to make some amazing friendships along the way, both with fellow dancers and principals.
