A brave runner is taking on one of the world’s toughest races — and showing what life with MS really looks like — in a powerful new documentary.

My MS, My Rules, created by Scruffy Bear Media with charity MS-UK, follows Anjali Silva-Vadgama, known as Anji, as she battles multiple sclerosis while preparing for the London Marathon.

Diagnosed at 29, Anji faces daily challenges including pain, fatigue and mobility issues.

But the film focuses on her determination to live life her way — including taking on the 26.2-mile marathon.

Filmed in 2025, the documentary gives an honest look at the highs and lows of her journey, from tough training days to emotional moments on race day. It also shines a light on often unspoken realities of MS, including the hidden symptoms many people don’t see.

Rather than a perfect sporting success story, the film shows the real struggle behind the scenes — adapting to symptoms, managing fear, and pushing through uncertainty.

Completing the marathon is a huge achievement, but the story goes far beyond the finish line.

Anji said: “Walking the London Marathon with MS was never about proving anything to anyone else — it was about showing myself that I can still live life on my own terms. There were moments that were really tough, but also moments I’ll never forget, especially seeing my wife Asha and the people I love along the route.
Watching the documentary back was incredibly emotional - Asha was fighting back tears through most of it, which says everything really. It reminded me how much this journey means, not just to me, but to everyone who’s been part of it. If sharing my story helps even one person feel less alone or more confident to try something they didn’t think was possible, then it’s all been worth it.”

Anji has also raised awareness for MS through other challenges, including half marathons and charity climbs, using her platform to support others and promote inclusivity.

Filmmaker Darren S. Cook said:

“Anji’s story is about more than completing a marathon. It’s about living life on your own terms, even when faced with something unpredictable and often invisible. We wanted to capture that honestly. The strength, the struggle, and everything in between.”

The film aims to challenge perceptions of disability and highlight the resilience of those living with long-term conditions.
