Our Changing Garden: Clevedon School pupils bring a garden back to life (By Sofia Year 7 and Meg Year 8)

The Clevedon School garden has been on a journey this year.
It was beautiful in September, with so much fruit on the trees. We picked lots of apples and pears, brought in brown paper bags and gave them away to staff and the Food Technology rooms.
We also had our first rhubarb crop. We trimmed back all the plants and then left the garden to bed down over winter.
And then it rained… and rained… and rained… and rained!
It took ages before we could properly see the garden again, as everything was so wet and it seemed to rain forever.
When we finally returned, there was so much that had become overgrown. The weeds seemed to have taken over.
We started going down to the garden every lunchtime and unwinding the bindweed that was choking the plants. Some weeds we decided to keep, like crowsfoot and pink campion, as the bees seemed to love them.
It has been great making new friends in the garden and working together to look after it.

Mr Smith is helping us by linking us with a gardener for next year. We are glad to keep the garden regenerating and look forward to seeing how it grows for another year.
