In June, Clevedon School Student Leaders took part in the Clevedon Literary Festival alongside students from our eTwinning partner school in Ettlingen.

We met at the seafront, where we presented our poetry in the bandstand. The day was beautiful, with the sea and sky creating the perfect backdrop alongside Clevedon Pier.

There were quite a few people in the audience, with visitors sitting on deckchairs and enjoying the performances.

We decided that we didn’t want the flags of Germany and the Union Jack to represent us. Instead, we wanted to go on stage together under one flag of community.

Nuala opened and closed the event. At the start, she read her poem about our connection with nature and the world around us. At the end, she read a poem for one of the Ettlingen students who became too nervous to speak.

Everyone enjoyed the event. Next year, we hope to join again and make our contribution even bigger and better.
