Donate For Defib has been recognised for its contribution to the local community after receiving the Mayor’s Award in Weston-super-Mare.

The award was presented at St John’s Church and recognises the group's ongoing efforts to improve access to publicly available defibrillators and raise awareness of their importance during medical emergencies.

Members of Donate For Defib said they were “incredibly proud and honoured” to receive the award, thanking everyone who has supported the initiative over the years.

The group paid tribute to its volunteers, donors and supporters, saying the recognition belongs to the wider community that has helped make the project a success.

Boy, 10, praised after calling 999 when mum had stroke
A 10-year-old boy from south-east London has been recognised for his bravery after calling 999 when his mum suffered a stroke at home.

A spokesperson said:

“This award is for every person who has donated, volunteered, shared our message or supported us along the way. Your support has helped create a life-saving resource for our community.”

Donate For Defib continues to raise funds for additional defibrillators and is encouraging anyone who would like to support its work to donate via its fundraising page.
