Tourism in North Africa
Though Libya is not traditionally associated with tourism in the same way as resort destinations, it offers a more unconventional travel experience.
Better suited to the traveller than the tourist, the country appeals to those seeking adventure rather than comfort.
From ancient Roman ruins to vast desert landscapes, Libya provides experiences that are difficult to find elsewhere.
While Libya remains a less common destination for international visitors, recent developments could help improve access to the country and encourage more people to explore what it has to offer.
On February 17, Kufra Airport announced that its runway lighting is now fully operational, making night-time flights possible.
This development is not only beneficial for those looking to explore the plains of North Africa, but could also help support tourism in the region and contribute to economic growth. Despite these improvements, Libya remains a less common destination for international tourists, and travellers are advised to research current conditions before planning a visit.
With improved access comes the opportunity to see more of the country.
