St Ives Crowned the UK’s Most Beautiful Town for Autumn

The famous town of St Ives, nestled in the heart of Cornwall, has a new title: ‘Most Beautiful Town for Autumn’.
The popular holiday destination is best known for its sunny beaches among summer visitors, but the sun can shine just as brightly in autumn — if not better.
Tourists have found the beaches are much quieter in the autumn, allowing for a far more peaceful experience. The seven beaches — Harbour Beach, Porthmeor, Porthminster, Porthgwidden (near Carbis Bay, close to the train line), Bamaluz (dog-friendly), and Porthkidney (near Hayle) — provide a much-needed escape from everyday life.

Two of these beaches, Porthminster and Porthmeor, have been awarded Blue Flag Status — an international award given to beaches, marinas, and boats that meet high standards for water quality, environmental management, safety, and services. Nearby Carbis Bay has also received the award this year.
In addition, Harbour Beach has won the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award 2025.
The harbour is perfect for paddleboarding, with boards available to hire opposite The Slipway café.

Visitors can also take a boat trip to Seal Island to spot local wildlife, offering a relaxing journey across the picturesque St Ives Bay. Other excursions include rib rides, fishing trips, and a three-hour seal safari. You can even hire your own boat if you wish.
St Ives is also well known for its excellent fish and chips.
One visitor said:
“They have the best fish and chips ever! Even if you just want a pasty or ice cream on the beach, it’s all delicious. Watch out for the seagulls — they do like a good old chip too!”
For those looking for something more formal, there are plenty of outstanding restaurants to enjoy.
