The King Alfred School Academy hosted its annual Christmas Light Switch-On and Christmas market on Monday 1st December, which drew a large turnout of staff, students, families, and members of the public.
Despite rainy weather, the event was well attended and everyone enjoyed the festive fun.

Several stalls showcased handmade items, giving visitors plenty of choice for unique Christmas presents.
Tasha’s stall offered a wide range of festive crafts including hand-made reindeer ornaments, blankets, scarves, and toys. Scarlett Lily Crochet, run by TKASA's Alex Butler, displayed hats, socks, pet stockings, and crochet animals.
The food stalls were a popular attraction. Jay Bakes sold cookies and brownies, which proved popular with the crowd, while Sam’s Fudge offered inventive flavours such as white chocolate with After Eight, Biscoff, and Baileys.

Amy’s Wax Cottage paired with other companies that are a part of Burnham's shop 'Collective Dreams' to provide wax products alongside fudge, giving visitors a mix of sweet treats and scented gifts.
A member of the community said, “It’s always a pleasure to visit the school, and the market is a wonderful way for local people to come together and showcase their fantastic products.”

The TKASA Young Enterprise group impressed with their repurposed books, which had been transformed into Christmas trees and ornaments.
The students demonstrated innovation and sustainability.
The Friends of Burnham War Memorial Hospital also attended, raising awareness and funds for their cause. Alongside these, raffles and tombolas added excitement and gave visitors the chance to win prizes.

People braved the rain to gather for the light switch-on, showing real Christmas spirit and commitment to the tradition. The switch-on brought together the school and wider community, marking the start of the festive season.
